All NYC friends-

Hope to see you there!
New things are brewing at Giant Artists, and we wanted to share -
Our revamped WEBSITE! Thanks to the designer, our very own Blake E. Marquis. Because our artists are multi-faceted, we’ve lost the neat categories and instead take a look at each artist as an individual. We are photographers, video & film directors, website designers, illustrators, graphic designers, art directors, skin printing, visual artists, cinematographers, and one wardrobe stylist.
Our SHOP page is chock full of books & prints, created by our artists or produced here at Giant. We hope you’ll take a minute to peruse!
Designer/Illustrator BLAKE E. MARQUIS won a ADC silver award for work on the Truth campaign with Arnold Worldwide…congrats! He and artist Sam Friedman (helterline.com) designed vans for Vita Coco. Blake continues to work with MySpace.com on posters for their events.
Designer/Art Director/Website Guru DAVID CALDERLEY continues to work with Station Film on their website, newly launched – www.stationfilm.com. He also just launched a site for craft/folk artist, Laura Hughes – www.notyourgrandmasneedlepoint.com. David is working with Warner Bros. Records on a new hits package for Madonna and on the website & company identity for high-end international furniture designers, Albrizzi. He worked with Yard in NYC on the latest Converse by John Varvatos campaign.
Multi-talented MICHAEL SCHMELLING directed a video for The Sounds for the first single off their upcoming release on Original Signal Recordings, and he shot their photos, too. On Sunday, May 10th we had a party for his new book The Plan (J+L Books) at Family (www.familylosangeles.com). Be on the lookout for his new print ads for New Balance; they’ve hit the streets.
Wadrobe stylist SHIRLEY KURATA never stops! She worked with our own Aaron Ruell on TV spots for VW and Comcast (Biscuit), and director Jun Diaz (Smuggler) on a PSA for Partnership for a Drug Free America. She also styled Zooey Deschanel for MEAN MAGAZINE, Airborne Toxic Event for their new album, and continues to work with Rodarte on various projects & press. She styled Emily Blunt for the latest issue of BlackBook for photographer Patrick Fraser – check it out.
AARON RUELL directed spots for Comcast as well as a new campaign for VW. Check out his new print ads for Surfrider Foundation in a magazine near you!
Director/Cinematographer DAVID BLACK shot two videos this month, with Au Revoir Simone and his second for the band D.A., in which he traversed the hottest desert & deepest sea (reel coming soon!). As a photographer, David continues to work with Chase on their print ads.
LAUREN DUKOFF had a busy month! She photographed White Denim for DAZED & CONFUSED; and Sasha Gray, Rye-Rye, and Emily Wells for BLURT. She also shot Sting & Joshua Bell for Sony Music and rounded out the month with an advertorial for JC Penney & US MAGAZINE (Wenner Media). Check out her photo of Devendra Banhart & Binki Shapiro (Little Joy) in the current ROLLING STONE.
