For many years, Lauren Dukoff has photographed close friend and musician Devendra Banhart and an extended, loose-knit international family of artists who share inspiration variously from folk, Tropicalia, a range of other musical influences and each other- often playing, recording and touring together. Her new hardcover book Family: Photographs by Lauren Dukoff collects 100 of Dukoff’s portraits of Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Bat for Lashes, Feathers, Espers, Vetiver, Bert Jansch, Vashti Bunyan, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and many others individually and together, in performance and more private spaces.
To celebrate the publication, our friends at FILTER, along with Chronicle Books, Giant Artists, and Space 15 Twenty will hold a month-long photography, music, art, and film showcase at the Space 15 Twenty gallery in Los Angeles. The event, kicking off July 18th, features a Family book signing with Dukoff, as well as a hootenanny curated by, and featuring Banhart himself.
Hurry up and RSVP, because space is limited!
RSVP at email@example.com.
Space 15 Twenty is located at 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028

The third book in an ongoing series from the seminal West Coast art and culture magazine, Juxtapoz Poster Art focuses on the art of screen print posters. In the past 10 years screen printing has ballooned in popularity and a new class of artists has emerged. These artists stepped away from the psychedelic posters of the ’60s and developed their own aesthetic-incorporating everything from hand-drawn type to found objects. Their posters have become sought-after collectors items for art and music fans alike. Buy it here!
