We dig behind the scenes videos and interviews of artists so we especially like this piece that the contemporary culture video magazine, Crane.tv, did on Giant’s very own, Klaus Thymann. He explains his background, his approach to the variety of interesting projects he likes to be a part of, and also what makes him happy! Check it out! And those curls!
Klaus Thymann is a happy & busy man today! He has just been announced as the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards Fashion & Beauty Photographer of the Year for his i-D fashion story where he follows an adventurer as he explores a series of remote glaciers around Iceland. The images showcase a departure from his normally elaborate, heavily staged fashion stories to that of one shot entirely with available light and natural surrounding. Klaus’ winning photographs will be part of a group show on display at the Somerset House in London from April 26 – May 12. And an added bonus – if you happen to be in London today, be sure to stop by the Strand Palace Hotel to hear Klaus speak on a panel about Fashion + Advertising from 15.30 – 17.00. More info here. Congrats, Klaus!
Klaus Thyman recently made this commercial for 3 Mobile that includes an owl, an underwater explosion, a woman floating in mid-air, detonating powder bursts to visualize the concepts of sound, speed, and freedom – and a lot of other cool stuff that won’t make sense until you watch it!
Klaus Thymann recently shot for Johnnie Walker’s new portfolio of whiskies called The Spice Road. The campaign images, like the beverage, take their inspiration from the traveling heritage of John Walker & Sons and pay unique homage to the global travelers of today. Sign us up!
