We thought some travel eye-candy from Peter Sutherland‘s recent trip to Nepal would help ease us into the work week. Vacation anyone?
When Peter Sutherland is not traveling to far off lands in Nepal or shredding the gnar in Utah powder, he’s shooting Adidas Originals!
Peter Sutherland traveled to the remote frozen tundra of Siberia to document a story for Vice magazine based on the Lykovs – a Russian family who has lived in the wilderness without human contact for most of the 20th Century. Discovered in 1978 by geologists, 70-year old Agafia, the only remaining daughter, and her friend Yerofei are the only two survivors still living off the earth more than 155 miles from civilization. Take a blog break today and read this incredible story!
Though very much a downtown New Yorker now, Peter Sutherland was raised in Colorado and is still an avid outdoor sportsman. His sense of beauty and power of the outdoors pervades throughout his work, whether he’s shooting on the streets of the LES or on top of a mountain. Recently, Ralph Lauren sent Sutherland to Yakutat, a fishing town in Alaska, to document skiers helicoptered to the freshest powder high on the Alaskan peaks.
Peter Sutherland’s just launched a new & improved website with some Dusty Trails and Concrete Jungles! Check it out – http://www.petersutherland.net.
Thule has let filmmaker Peter Sutherland shoot six documentaries about bike culture. The films, named “The Way I Roll”, take us on a journey from Guatemala to a coast-to-coast experience featuring American bike pros, bike builders and enthusiasts — shot at close quarters in their home landscape.

Levi’s and Nike teamed up to release a new line of Skateboarding apparel and footwear. For this launch, they published a supplement in Monster Children (one of our favorite magazines) exploring behind the scenes and how this line was brought to life. Peter Sutherland ventured to Cone Mills in North Carolina to photograph part of the process. More photos in the latest issue of Monster Children, on newsstands now.
Last week Giant Artists took over the new wing of the Deutsch LA offices and covered the walls with beautiful art! Our artists’ work will be up for the next few months, so be sure to take a peek if you’re in the area. Thanks for having us!
